Abstract

We discuss the quantum magnetohydrodynamic (QMHD) model for quantum plasmas. In the infinite conductivity limit, QMHD differ from classical MHD in view of the presence of an extra dispersive term in the force equation. The quantum term is proportional to a non‐dimensional parameter H. We derive conditions for unavoidable quantum‐effects in plasmas and for large H values. These results may be valuable for the identification of concrete quantum plasma systems where the QMHD equations are useful.
