Abstract
We report on the enhance magnetic properties of synthesized Mg-Ferrite catalyst through the microwave-assisted combustion route by making nanocomposite via Zn-ferrite. The gravimetric oil removal capability tests from water at room temperature were performed. Phase impurity and surface morphology which investigated with XRD analysis and field emission- scanning electron microscopy, indicate that spinel structure are formed with average particle size increases with present Zn-ferrite from 30.66nm to 32.85 nm. Magnetic measurements result indicates high values of saturation magnetization will be produced with present Zn-ferrite. Intrinsic stretching vibrations of the metal at the tetrahedral site (Mtetra → O) at 558.08 and 561.06cm−1 were observed in the FT-IR spectra for pure and MgFe2O4@ZnFe2O4 nanocomposite ferrites respectively. The results indicate that the as-synthesized powdered MgFe2O4 and MgFe2O4@ZnFe2O4 nanocomposite can be used as absorbent materials for removing oil spills from water surface.
