Abstract

This paper proposes a dynamic methodology for implementing the 5S methodology (Seiri: Sort), (Seiton: Set in order) (Seiso: Shine), (Seiketsu: Standardize) (Shitsuke: Sustain) with a focus on JIT, Kanban, and Kaizen, for the production area in organizations. The implementation of 5S helps companies become efficient and effective in areas such as waste reduction, cost overruns, rework, workplace accidents, while maintaining a neat, clean, and standardized area. This ensures that organizations have a rational use of resources and full control of production by making use of JIT and Kanban in order to direct development toward continual improvement. This process is achieved by the use of Pareto diagram, cause and effect diagram and process flow diagram, red cards, color cards, identification matrix, training, screening, amongst others in order to achieve a pleasant working environment and sustainable improvements over time.
