Abstract
We provide a systematic overview of methods suitable for the synthesis of 1-hydroxyimidazoles, imidazole 3-oxides, and their benzoannulated analogs. Generalized spectral and structural data of the considered compounds are presented. This review covers literature sources from 1964 until 2016, as well as some earlier works.
