Abstract

The article addresses matters concerned with the methodological features of planning the development of the electric power system (EPS) of Mongolia, the concepts laid down in the documents defining the development of Mongolia’s energy sector, and some results of studies on working out the country’s EPS development model. The EPS management and planning problems, which follow from the need to improve the energy security indicators and matching it with the growth of domestic electricity consumption and the features of the external market, have been defined, and possible options for a unified electric power system have been proposed based on the systems analysis method in comparison with the mathematical modeling method.
