Abstract
This paper analyzes the properties of "magic" mirrors fabricated by contemporary masters using the technology of ancient China. Interferograms and schlieren patterns obtained from one of the samples confirm that there is a connection between the relief on its back side and the shape of the front reflective surface. © 2004 Optical Society of America
