Abstract

The method for determining the activation energy of the process of martensite decomposition during tempering of hardened steel is presented. The most equilibrium structure is characterized by the minimum of free energy. The structural organization of such a state is provided by a certain ratio of the surface area of he boundary and the volume of each crystallite, the degree of development of the boundary surface itself, as well as the specific values of the surface energy and chemical potential.
