Abstract

The existence of a new structure, most likely present as structural defect sites at the La 2O 3/BaCO 3 interface in La 2O 3 promoted-BaCO 3 catalyst, was detected by Raman, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and electron spin resonance studies. The improvement of the catalytic performance in methane oxidative coupling over La 2O 3 promoted-catalysts could be related to the presence of such a new structure.
