Abstract

This paper presents design of low pass filter for Ultra Wide Band applications using metamaterial. The new configuration of complementary split ring resonator (CSRR) cell is etched in top plane of microstrip line. This cell has very small size so that reduction of size of filter can be achieved. There are two cells etched in top plane of microstrip line. Each cells consist of zigzag pattern called as inter digital coupled lines. The filter has insertion loss close to $0\mathrm {d}\mathrm {B}$ over ultra wide band frequency. The S-parameters and VSWR are extracted by simulating design of low pass filter in CST simulation software. Also comparisons of s-parameter and VSWR with respect to different positions of cells like in top plane and in ground plane are discussed in this paper.
