Abstract

The results of tribotests of a new sheet metal-PTFE material with steel counterbodies having different hardness are reported. They show that the material has a high wear resistance in dry friction. The hardening of the counterface increases significantly the permissible load on the metal-PTFE block. It is found that compaction conditions and the mode of arrangement of hair-cloth threads relatively to the sliding direction affect the metal-PTFE material wear resistance.
