Abstract
This paper reviews some of the problems associated with injection laser heat-sink attachment and ohmic contact metallurgy. The effects these have on initial laser characteristics as well as on laser reliability are discussed for both (AlGa)As (0.8 μm) lasers and the newer InGaAsP (1.3 μm) lasers.
