Abstract

Oxide glass/metallic glass composites have not been widely studied yet though they can have several advantages over single phase materials. In the present work glassy oxide/metallic composite materials were produced by sintering of powdered oxide glass reinforced with metallic glassy ribbons in the supercooled liquid regions. The structure, sample morphology, thermal and mechanical properties were tested. The composite samples showed better mechanical properties in comparison with single phase oxide samples.
