Abstract

Effect of transition metal additives on the performance of metal oxide catalysts for the title reaction was investigated. Addition of Mn, Fe, Co, Ni and Cu promoted the activity of alumina at lower temperatures and higher space velocity. The activity of Co/Al2O3 was found to be affected by preparation conditions. The increase in the de-NOx activity could be attributed to the cooperation between alumina and finely dispersed metal species. In contrast to alumina, the addition of Fe and Co decreased the activity of titania whereas V enhanced the de-NOx activity at lower temperatures. Activity enhancement was not observed for zirconia.
