Abstract

: Students' Metacognitive Knowledge in the Teaching of Chemical Equilibrium. This study on students' metacognitive knowledge related to Chemical Equilibrium topic was conducted at State Uni­versity of Gorontalo, involving 153 students of Chemistry Department. The metacognitive knowledge be­ing studied includes declarative, procedural, and conditional knowledge. The data were collected using an essay test about Chemical Equilibrium comprising four items on declarative knowledge, three items on procedural knowledge, and three items on conditional knowledge. The test has a 0.8 reliability coefficient, calculated using alpha Cronbach formula. In general, the scores on the three types of knowledge indicate that the students' metacognitive knowledge was low; in particular, their conditional knowledge was lower than their declarative knowledge, while their procedural knowledge was lower than their declarative knowledge.
