Abstract

This article focuses on weather metaphors used in the gastronomic language. In particular, it analyzes the metaphorical use of some weather verbs and nouns in titles of blogs, posts and recipes, in names of menu dishes as well as in specific points of recipes. Through the analysis of the data, on a syntactic level, one observes both the valence increases of verbs and nouns and the constructions in which they occur; on a semantic-communicative level, one examines the different meanings and effects transmitted precisely through the use of weather metaphors.
