Abstract

May it Please Your Majesty: We, Your Loyal and Dutiful Subjects, the President, Council and Fellows of the Royal Society of London, humbly beg leave to offer your Majesty, the Patron of our Society, our respectful and most sincere congratulations upon the approaching marriage of Your Majesty’s Most Dearly Beloved Daughter Her Royal Highness Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary to Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten, R .N . The Royal Society of London ever since it received its first Charter from His Majesty King Charles the Second has not only enjoyed the continued patronage of the Throne, but has been specially favoured in that many members of The Royal House have become Fellows of the Society. It is with particular pride that, in offering our respectful and sincere congratulations on this most auspicious occasion, we recall that Her Royal Highness was elected a Fellow of the Society and, having graciously signified her desire to visit our Rooms at Burlington House, was duly admitted to the Fellowship on the third of July of this year.
