Message from Editor 
 
 Dear Colleagues;
 
 It is a great honour for us to welcome you as Editor of Cypriot Journal of Educational Sciences, which has accepted publications indexed in qualified databases since 2006. Our main aim is to increase the quality of the journal day by day. We are ready to publish the new issue of Cypriot Journal of Educational Sciences, which has eight articles with authors from various countries. The aim of this issue is to give the researchers an opportunity to share their academic studies.
 
 First of all, I would like to thank all authors who have contributed to this issue. The focuses of the articles are varied. Ayodele Ogunleye and Benjamin E. Anyaegbuna provided an assessment of physics laboratory teaching and learning resources in two Nigerian universities. Abdulrasaq Abdulkadir, Abdulkadir Olarewaju Rasa and Isıaka Gafar discussed implications for counselling in terms of psychological effects of retirement of retirees. Mehmet Aşıkcan and Ahmet Saban examined prospective teachers’ metacognitive awareness levels of reading strategies. In addition, Adile Emel Sardohan Yildirim and Gönül Akçamete investigated the views and suggestions about participation of families of children with special needs in individualised education programme.
 
 Nevertheless, Pınar Koseoglu and Hulya Pehlivan carried out a research aiming to reveal the high school students’ metaphorical perceptions of biology and biology teacher concepts. Seval Orak and Cavide Demirci provided application examples and student views on active learning approach integrated with branches of art. Murat Tezer and Naciye Ataman studied the effect of university education on lifelong learning tendency. Lastly, Hayat Boz explained social relationship network and communication at old age.
