Abstract

The effects of the meson-exchange currents in the electroexcitation of magnetic states in 48Ca below 14 MeV of excitation energy and for momentum transfers up to 3.5 fm −1 have been calculated. In particular, their dependence with the momentum transferred to the target nucleus as well as with the excitation energy and the multipolarity of the nuclear states involved is analyzed in detail. Results for both pure 1p1h and RPA excitations are shown and compared. Two magnetic transition with multipolarity 2 − have been found to be appreciably influenced bythe exchange currents of pionic range.
