Abstract
Introduction: The transition to menopause has been consistently shown to increase cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors in women. Climacteric symptoms and mainly hot flushes are considered to be associated with increased CVD risk in women. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), considered as an additional feature of the metabolic syndrome, contributes to the increase of CVD risk after menopause. The aim of this study was to assess the association between the intensity of hot flushes and liver steatosis or fibrosis indicators, by using the Fibrosis 4 score (Fib4) and the hepatic steatosis index (HSI).
