Abstract

The theory that underlies this research is that academic supervision is an effort to assist teachers in conducting learning processes that are interactive, inspiring, fun, challenging, and motivating students to actively participate, and provide sufficient space for initiative, creativity, and independence in accordance with talent, the interest and physical and psychological development of students. Data collection techniques in conducting this research are obsevatian, interview, documentation and triangulation technoques. The approach used in this study is qualitative research with qualitative descriptive methods. The results the study show that academic supervisors in Garut district has met procedural standards in accordance with modern management principles, starting from the planning, implementation, evaluation to follow-up and reports using valid instruments, a;thoughnthe results have not been maximezed because it faced various limitaions of the madasah. In terms of the results of improving the performance of private MTs teachers not yet achieving optimal results, this can be understood by academic supervision is not the only factor that can improve teacher performance, there are still many other factors, both internal and external factors
