Abstract
This investigation aimed to verify how Brazilian women coaches were inserted into high-performance Paralympic sports in Brazil. Based on the premises of Cultural History and Sports History, we applied the principles of Oral History, producing oral sources through the technique of semi-structured interviews. The participants were women who worked or still work as coaches of Paralympic athletes in the high-performance field. The testimonies allowed the understanding of their trajectories, highlighting them as historical subjects. The incentives for women to approach the coaching career were diverse: university internships, previous life as an athlete, family influence, and being a woman with a disability. Thus, it is important to highlight the need to enhance the contact spots of society as a whole and, in particular, of Physical Education students with Paralympic sports in order to expand the range of academic and professional fields.
