Abstract

Abstract The time dependences of (i) permittivity and (ii) dilatation of a relaxor ferroelectric Sr0.61Ba0.39Nb2O6 single crystal after removal of an external electric field (E0 = 3.5 kV/cm) at low temperatures 4 K < To < 300 K are measured. After a critical time tc the relaxation curves change their slope. Surprisingly, the value of tc correlates with the waiting time tw (15 min < tw < 1200 min) during which the specimen was exposed to the external field. The memory effects are observed along c axis and around a typical temperature Tm = 70 K.
