Abstract
When approached to review this book, my first response was to claim too many conflicting interests. I had already begun reading my personal copy. I had closely worked during my training with each of the triumvirate mentioned by the author who established paediatric gastroenterology in the UK—namely, John Walker- Smith, the late John Harries, and Sandy McNeish. Walker-Smith was professor of paediatric gastroenterology at the University of London from 1985 until his retirement in 2000. I share his views on many things—Australia, the European Union, the Tomlinson Report, the Church of England, and the vilification he received over the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine, inflammatory bowel disease, and autism.
