Abstract

We have successfully melt-spun Fe 93.5Zr 6.5 amorphous ribbons, and studied their magnetic properties by means of ac and dc magnetization measurement techniques. Both the components of X ac( T), the real X′( T) and the imaginary X″( T), indicate a single transition at T sf=112 K, which is also confirmed from ZFC and FC dc-thermomagnetic data. Hysteresis loop studies at 5 K indicate a moment of 0.7μ B per Fe atom. These results suggest that the studied alloy is in a ‘spin-glass state’ for T< T sf and can be viewed as the percolation limit of the long-range ferromagnetic interactions in the Fe-Zr amorphous alloys.
