Abstract
1. 1. Incorporation of label from [3- 14C]tyrosine and [2- 14C]3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine into the melanin pigment of Aeromonas salmonicida has been demonstrated. 2. 2. Optimal conditions for melanin pigment formation by resting cell suspensions were determined. 3. 3. Melanin pigment production was inhibited by ascorbic acid and cysteine.
