Abstract

Screening facilities at seventeen fish farms and public water supply intakes, comprising numerous water offtakes and outfalls, were inspected during February and March of 2010. The systems were evaluated against current Environment Agency good practice. Of the sites assessed only one site fully complied with the recommendations provided within current good practice guidelines. Interviews with farm mangers and site operatives identified that the majority of staff were not cognisant of the good practice guidelines freely available. This may in part be due to the generic and non industry specific nature of the guidance.
