Abstract

Abstract Meehanite SFP500 is a ductile iron that has a minimum tensile strength of 500 MPa (73 ksi) and a minimum elongation of 8%, when measured on test pieces machined from separately cast samples. This Meehanite grade possesses a mixed matrix of ferrite and pearlite, with the ferrite predominating. It offers a compromise between the relatively soft, low tensile, high ductility ferritic types and the harder, higher tensile, lower ductility pearlitic grades. Meehanite SFP500 is a good all-round material providing a degree of toughness coupled with a higher tensile strength in the as-cast condition. This datasheet provides information on physical properties, hardness, elasticity, tensile properties, and compressive strength as well as fatigue. It also includes information on casting and heat treating. Filing Code: CI-108. Producer or source: Meehanite Metal Corporation.
