Abstract

Cross sections for the production of 26 spallation products induced in natural molybdenum targets by 800-MeV protons have been measured by conventional stacked-foil activation methods using aluminum beam monitors. The spallation products were assayed without chemical separation by Ge(Li) γ-ray spectrometry. Molybdenum was irradiated at the Los Alamos Meson Physics Facility (LAMPF) to produce the following radionuclides of interest in diagnostic nuclear medicine: 82Sr(23 ± 1) mb; 85Sr(48 ± 0.7) mb; 77Br(27 ± 0.9) mb; 75Se(26 ± 0.3) mb.
