Abstract
Cross sections for the production of 13 spallation products induced in natural vanadium targets by 800-MeV protons have been measured by conventional stacked-foil activation methods using aluminum beam monitors. The spallation products were assayed without chemical separation by Ge(Li) γ-ray spectrometry. Vanadium was irradiated at the Los Alamos Meson Physics Facility (LAMPF) to produce the following radionuclides of interest in diagnostic nuclear medicine: 22.3-h 43 K—(5.3 ± 0.3) mbarn; 12.4-h 42 K—(12 ± 0.4) mbarn.
