<h3>CALIFORNIA</h3><h3>University News.—</h3> A new department of public health nursing has been announced at the University of California at Los Angeles, with Eleanor L. Beebe in charge as assistant professor of public health nursing. <h3>Annual Symposium on Heart Disease.—</h3> The heart committee of the San Francisco County Medical Society will hold its eighth annual graduate symposium on heart disease at the University of California, Stanford University and San Francisco hospitals, November 17-18. The course will cover the various aspects of heart disease, including diagnosis, prognosis and treatment. Recent advances in cardiology will be reviewed and evaluated and practical clinical demonstrations will be held. The registration fee will be $2. <h3>Society News.—</h3> Dr. Victor G.
