Abstract
Abstract. Information competency refers to one of the key professional competencies contributing to the development of electronic and digital healthcare. The development level of information expertise relates directly to the possibility of using modern technologies, forms, types of training, control of results, which directly depend on the educational environment of the university. The current article reveals the experience of preparing medical university students to use modern information technologies in the “Medical Informatics” course. The described in detail content of the lecture material and examples of practical tasks of all course sections are: medical informatics as a science; fundamentals of general informatics; general purpose programs for solving medical issues; use of computer communications in medicine; computer processing of medical data; modeling and use of models in medicine; medical information systems; medical instrumentation and computer systems; artificial intelligence in medicine. To assess the teaching quality of the discipline we present the results of the students’ final survey. We identify topics of lectures and laboratory classes that aroused the greatest interest among students, as well as topics that students would like to study additionally. The research materials will be useful for teachers of medical informatics.
