Abstract

English for specific purposes (ESP) refers to the English related to specific professions or subjects to meet specific needs of the learners,including business English,medical English,etc.With the development of ESP theory in the field of English teaching,many medical universities start to offer medical English reading and audio-visual-oral courses,but translation teaching is still ignored.No wonder mistranslation is not a rarity in medical articles.Through analyzing some examples of mistranslation,the basic lexical,syntactical and textual features of medical English and the corresponding translation strategies are explicated,so as to prompt medical English translation teaching and reduce improper translation to the minimum.
