Abstract

Diving is an activity that hides many dangers, and can cause damage to the health of divers, especially if the person lacks proper equipment and does not follow safety measures. Medical care provision focused on diving activities plays a significant role in limiting injuries and prevention of specific diving-related impairments. Depending on the type and nature of the particular work under water, providing divers with medical care can be done by a physician or other theoretically and practically prepared person, most of the times this is a diving instructor. The aim of our presentation is to identify the place and tasks of the medical care provision for scuba diving and identify the measures for the prevention of diseases and injuries resulting from diving activities. We describe the main stages of this provision and suggest safety rules that affect both professional divers and those who practice diving for recreation.
