Abstract

Pb0.67Cd0.33F2 solid solution with a fluorite-type structure has been synthesized for the first time using high-energy grinding of the initial components, PbF2 and CdF2, taken in a ratio of 2 : 1, in an inert Ar atmosphere. The dynamics of this process is investigated by X-ray diffraction analysis. The lattice parameter of the mechanosynthesis product is а = 5.768(7) A, and the average particle size is ∼50 nm.
