Abstract
Four binary cocrystals of cyanuric acid (CUA) and 5-aminoisophthalic acid (5AIPA) in combination with spacer aldrithiol-4 (ALDTHL) and 4,4′-dipyridyl sulfide (DPS) were prepared via Liquid Assisted grinding (LAG) method. Single crystal X-ray diffraction and powder X-ray diffraction techniques were used to elucidate their structures, which are further characterized using thermogravimetric analysis. While CUA produces 0.5:0.5 and 2:2 cocrystals with ALDTHL and DPS respectively; 5AIPA acid forms 1:1 cocrystals with both ALDTHL and DPS. Again, all the cocrystals adopt a sheet-like structure, with the exception of the (DPS)2•(CUA)2 cocrystal, which displays an interpenetrated polycatenane type of molecular packing. In order to analyze the intermolecular interactions in the four cocrystals, Hirshfeld surface analysis was performed.
