Abstract

Mechanisms counter the Communist Party of Ukraine deployment democratic processes in the USSR in 1987 - 1988. The features of social and political activity known Ukrainian dissident Ivan Gel initially Gorbachev's perestroika in the light of its relationship with the State Security Committee of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic (KGB USSR), central and local authorities. Particular attention is paid to the forms of intelligence of intellectuals, informal community organizations, including the Committee to Protect UCC. It is proved that the Soviets opposed the spread of glasnost and democratization in the country in the study period, trying to preserve the established political system, prevent the development of Ukrainian national-cultural and political movement that represented dissidents and "Informals".
