Abstract
The oxidation of [CoIINMa(H2O)]3− · 4H2O and [CoIINT(H2O)]3− · 4H2O by periodate have been studied kinetically in aqueous solution by periodate where, [N = nitrilotriacetate, Ma = maleic acid, and T = tartaric acid] over 25–45°C and a variety pH range. The oxidation of [CoIINMa(H2O)]3− by periodate, obeys the rate law, while the reaction of [CoIINT(H2O)]3−, with periodate follows the rate equation The thermodynamics activation parameters have been calculated.
