Abstract

Typically, wood-based structural materials and their constituents are rectangular and full shapes. It is rare to find a periodic geometry such as the corrugated shape in these wood-based materials, whereas this geometry is very common in advanced composite materials. This project aims to characterize wood based corrugated panels in order to use them as a structural composite. The corrugated panels were characterized in terms of compressive, tensile, and bending properties in the direction parallel and perpendicular to the panel corrugations. Among the structural applications that could be developed, I-joists with corrugated panel-based web seem to be the most promising option.
