Abstract

Over the past ten decades, the application of composite materials has been continuously increasing from traditional application areas such as military aircraft, commercial aircraft to various engineering fields including automobiles, robotic arms, and even architecture. Due to its superior properties and reduced cost, composites have been one of the materials used for repairing the existing structures. The work aims to provide an alternative for metal structures with composite materials in Automotive Industries, which would subsequently reduce the production cost. The present work is to investigate the Glass fibre composites with epoxy resin, Aluminium alloy and improve their mechanical properties like Tensile, Compression, and Impact strength by conducting a series of tests so that the behaviour of these composites can be studied. The most essential factor in the manufacturing of these composites is the adhesive bonding between aluminium and FRP layers which in turn increases the strength of the components manufactured in the automotive industry.
