Abstract
Differential cross sections for the elastic scattering of alpha-particles from 59Co, 197Au, and 209Bi nuclei are measured at an incident energy of 29 MeV. The experimental data are described using different methods of diffraction in the illuminated region (Fresnel nuclear diffraction) and shadow region (Fraunhofer nuclear diffraction). Spatial characteristics of the nuclei obtained from these two types of nuclear diffraction are compared.
