Abstract
Since the implementation of energy conservation targets in China, there has been frequent occurrences of malignant fires caused by external thermal insulation system. This paper analyzes fire safety of external thermal insulation system in China. According to the results of simulated fire and building fire test carried out by building research departments and fire research institutes in China, this paper puts forward that fire safety of external thermal insulation system depends not only on improved combustion performance of insulation material, but also fireproof construction application in external insulation system, mainly including treatment measures for insulation layer and cavity, use of external fire-resistant window, fire separation zone for each layer or compartment, coating of fire protection layer on the surface of organic insulation material.
