Abstract

We report on measurements of Stark widths and shifts of four prominent Ne I lines of the 3s,3s′-3p transition arrays. The measurements were performed in an atmospheric-pressure arc discharge operated in argon–neon gas mixture. Sub-Doppler degenerate four-wave mixing technique was used to measure the line profiles, while Thomson scattering yielded the plasma parameters: electron density, n e = (0 .53–1 .33) × 10 23 m − 3 , and electron temperature, T e = 10,200–20,900 K. The measured profiles are symmetric within the uncertainty limits. The experimental Stark widths and shifts are compared with results of other experiments and theoretical calculations.
