Abstract
Radon concentrations have ben measured in bedrooms, sitting-rooms, kitchens and TV lounges in some houses in the cities of Lahore, Islamabad and Rawalpindi using CN-85 solid state nuclear track detectors in box type dosemeters. In the city of Lahore, bedrooms were found to have higher (average) radon concentrations (=93 Bq.m −3 ) compared with those (=20 Bq.m −3 ) observed in TV lounges. A similar trend was observed in the cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, where the average radon concentration values of 83 Bq.m −3 and 12 Bq.m −3 were found in bedrooms and TV lounges, respectively.
