Abstract

A virtual instrument (VI) for measuring the coating thickness of brushplating has been developed; and then the analysis of the main uncertainty sources of the instrument has been presented, including the uncertainties of the transducer, the A/D convertor, and the DSP. Moreover the combined measurement uncertainties of theese four bocks have been estimated respectively according to Type B evaluation of “guide to the expression of uncertainty in measurement (GUM)”[1] in terms of Gram-Chariler series, while their corresponding relative measurement uncertainties have also been given. Finally, the overall relative uncertainty and the combined uncertainty of the instrument have also been provided.
