Abstract
DAΦNE (the Frascati Φ-factory) is a high luminosity e e collider (5.3E&32cm2S−1 max., beam energy 0.51 GeV) designed to study CP violations. The DAΦNE construction and installation have been completed in the autumn of 1997 and the collider commissioning with experiments is well advanced. The testing period of the collider represents an excellent occasion to test and validate the experimental methods to be employed to measure the radiation levels produced by the machine and which must be monitored to avoid radiation risks. The present paper reports about the first measurements of the γ-rays emission from DAΦNE using high sensitivity thermoluminescent (TLDs) detectors. The study was aimed at measuring the γ-rays radiation level at the border of the LNF (Laboratori Nazionali di Frascati) in order to verify whether the shield is effective. This is also necessary to verify the licensing calculation which showed that no radiation risk is to be expected from the DAΦNE operation.
