Abstract
Coherent inelastic neutron scattering technique has been used to measure the low energy part of the phonon dispersion relation from a natural single crystal of zircon, ZrSiO 4 at room temperature. A lattice dynamical model is used for the calculation of phonon dispersion relation and the one-phonon structure factors. The measurements are in good agreement with our lattice dynamical calculations.
