Abstract
A new technique has been developed for the determination of heavy-ion stopping powers by combining the Doppler shift attenuation (DSA) method and the transmission method. This technique offers a possibility to measure stopping powers in bulk materials over large velocity ranges. The method was used to increase the accuracy of the previously measured stopping powers of Si ions in elemental targets.
