Abstract
A new technique has been developed for the determination of heavy-ion stopping powers by combining the Doppler shift attenuation (DSA) and transmission methods. This technique offers a possibility to measure stopping powers of bulk materials for heavy ions over a wide velocity range. The validity of the new method was demonstrated by measuring the stopping powers of SiO 2, Si, ZrO 2, Zr, Al 2O 3 and Al for 29 Si ions at velocities 1.0–5.0 v 0. Considerable deviations from Bragg rule were observed in the calculated contributions of the oxygen stopping powers for different oxides.
