Abstract

Formation of light and heavy reaction products in the interaction of 86 MeV/nucleon 18O-ions with a thin target of 184W has been studied using different threshold track detectors. Fission and total cross-sections have been systematically measured. The results so obtained indicate that besides the processes of fission and spallation, fragmentation of projectile and target also seems to take place in the above interaction. The reaction products have been classified in five charge intervals using threshold detectors of CR-39, CN-85, Makrofol-E, Makrofol-N, Lexan, and muscovite mica. Differential angular cross-sections and charge spectral information have been used to study the mode of interaction in the above reaction. Double differential angular cross-sections of the two fission fragments emitted in binary fission and forward-to-backward ratio (F/B) have been measured.
