Abstract

Interaction of 80 and 100 MeV π + with targets of tantalum, europium, antimony and zirconium have been studied using muscovite mica and CR-39 solid state nuclear track detectors. These studies yielded information regarding the binary and ternary fission cross-sections. Emission of heavy and light reaction products has also been studied. The results indicate that besides the emission of heavy charged particles like fission fragments, a large fraction of light charged particles such as alpha particles and protons are emitted. The angular distributions of both fission fragments and light reaction products have been found to be slightly peaked in the direction of the incidence beam.
